about

B-sides and demos from the home recording sessions of "Soundings in Fathoms". This digital only release features 7 tracks that I either cut from the album or went on to inspire other songs later recorded for the tape released by Lighten Up Sounds.

1. Dance of the Green Crab II - At first, "Dance of the Green Crab" was going to be multiple tracks spread out over the entire length of the album. This is the much longer second half of the original recording.

2. Rose Circle - A tape loop idea made from synthesizer samples.

3. The Birds Will Feed on Dead Dogfish - Early concept/idea for the song "Three Dead Dogfish" with a field recording of birds from my backyard near Lummi Shore.

4. Smuggler Slough - Layered acoustic guitar slowed down on a Tascam Portastudio.

5. Agate - Solo acoustic guitar improvisation recorded direct to a Panasonic Slim Line tape recorder.

6. Soundings Measured in Fathoms - Tape loop sound collage made from sampling Hannah Wyatt's string arrangement from "Three Dead Dogfish".

7. Spirals & Spines - This was originally slated to be the albums closing track and features Tim Mechling on the trombone.

Thanks for listening
